Selection races are closed competitions for national teams in men Elite (ME) and women Elite (WE) classes.

Sprint – Limbaži
Western part of the Limbaži town.  The competition area comprises the old town, residential districts with multi-level apartment houses and areas with school buildings. Elevation 30 m.

Middle and long distance – Līgatne.
The competition area is in the territory of the Gauja National Park, on both banks of the Līgatne River. Runnability varies from good to medium. Diverse shapes of relief, pronounced ravine systems. Elevation up to 90 m. A medium density network of roads and forest rides. Dangerous places – sandstone ridges on the banks of the Līgatne River.

Middle and long distance competition areas are closed for athletes.
Sprint competition area – visiting the area is permitted, while using any maps and training is absolutely forbidden.
Riga International Airport (RIX) is the closest airport. The distance from the Riga Airport is 72 km to Līgatne and 95 km to Limbaži. We recommend the WOC2018 official car rental partner    
www.alpharent.lv.

Punching system: SPORTident Air+ touchfree punching system will be used at all competitions.
GPS-tracking: optional. GPS tracking devices will be available for rent from organisers for forest races (middle and long) at EUR 10.00 per day. Please order by the 1st entry deadline (20 May).
The use of teams’ own GPS devices is subject to principles of fair play (not to check the tracks before the race).
On-line results: from all competitions.
Speaker service: Andris Rupais (Latvia) will be the speaker on all the competitions.
