Last medal set of WOC 2018 was won today in rainy Turaida. Tove Alexandersson became the tree-times world champion, while Norwegian Olav Lundanes won his fifth title in the long distance. 76 athletes competed in the 16 km long distance. Olav Lundanes kept stabile first position throughout the competition, and won the long distance for third year in a row. He finished after 97 minutes and 43 seconds, becoming in the five-time world champion in the long distance, surpassing the legendary orienteer Thierry Gueorgiou.
Ukrainian athlete Ruslan Glibov won the second place unexpectedly (+03:04), but Fabian Hertner, who finished as fourth in 2014, finally won a medal - he finished third. Swiss athlete Daniel Hubmann, who won the long distance competition in 2008 and 2009, finished fourth (+03:59). In the fifth position finished Swede Gustav Bergman (+03:51) and in the sixth position - Norwegian Eskil Kinneberg (+04:52).
